此次《时代先锋》书画展共展出作品198幅，分为人物篇、山水篇、花鸟篇和书法篇四个部分，作者既有共和国将军，也有共和国院士，既有老党员、老战士，也有德艺双馨的艺术家，他们将革命领袖、革命先烈以及工农兵艺术形象通过笔墨表现出来。这些名家作品的笔墨之精妙，气势之宏大，不仅反映了书画家深厚的笔墨功力、典雅的艺术风格，而且折射出浓郁的时代风貌。

国画家吴山明既是作者也是观者，他的人物画《延安五老》也在此次画展中。对于此次画展，他用“精神含量高”来形容，在他看来，艺术家无论落笔是字还是画，流淌的都是真情实感，这些展现和歌颂革命成果的艺术作品在这个和平盛世里尤为重要。

尺寸较大，更是因为画中并排站了毛泽东和朱德，他们身着大棉袄，手执文卷，被参观者赞以“具有伟人高瞻远瞩、引领时代的精神气质”，无不要求站在画前来一张合影，或是站立画前久久不肯挪步。

群贤毕至，和乐无穷。党和国家领导人、共和国将军、共和国院士和书画艺术家及各界人士500余人参加了开幕式并参观了画展。中共中央政治局常委、全国人大常委会委员长吴邦国同志为书画展和书画集亲题“时代先锋”。全国人大常委会副委员长周铁农亲临《时代先锋》首发式并宣布书画大展开幕。中共浙江省委原书记薛驹发来贺信。杭州市人大常委会主任王国平等致辞。□

Veterans Celebrate 90th Anniversary of CPC

Year 2011 saw many celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Communist Party of China that was founded in July 1921. Most celebrations coincided in July, but Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou held a special celebration toward the end of December 2011. It was an exhibition of paintings and calligraphic works and all the artists were veterans, many engaged in the founding of People’s Republic of China in 1949.

The exhibition was called Epoch-Making Pioneers. The exhibi-tion doubled as the launching of the namesake album of all the exhibits. The organizing committee of the event presented copies of the album as gifts to Zhejiang Library, Hangzhou Library, and Xia-oshan Library. A get-together and a large forum were also held.

Altogether 198 paintings and calligraphic works were displayed. These artworks were created by retired generals and academicians, veteran party members and old soldiers as well as some well-known artists. An eye-catching part of the 198 exhibits was dedicated to the images of old-generation revolutionary leaders and martyrs and grassroots revolutionaries in various fields. These artworks portrayed the epoch-making revolution and art and the new era that brought peace and modernization to China after so many tumultu-ous decades of wars.

Wu Shanming, a professor with China Academy of Art based in Hangzhou, displayed Five Old Men in Yan’an in the style of traditional Chinese painting. He commented that the exhibition dis-played a great spirit that brought revolution to success and founded a new country. In his opinion, the artworks focused on the revolu-tion were important in this time of peace and prosperity.

The Founding Fathers of People’s Army, created in the style of traditional Chinese painting, was a centerpiece at the exhibition.

The 250 X 192 masterpiece, placed at the entrance, was most eye-catching. It portrayed Mao Zedong and Zhu De, two founding fathers of the army and the People’s Republic. Many visitors took pictures in front of the giant painting.

More than 500 people attended the opening ceremony and toured the exhibition. Wu Bangguo, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress inscribed the title for the exhibition and the album. Zhou Tienong, a vice president of the Standing Com-mittee of the National People’s Congress, attended the ceremony in person. Xue Ju, the former chief of the CPC Zhejiang Committee wrote a letter of congratulation. Wang Guoping, the president of the Standing Committee of Hangzhou People’s Congress, spoke at the launching ceremony.

Wang said that the exhibition represents the artworks of the veterans who helped found and build the country and made indel-ible contribution the great development and prosperity of cultural undertakings of China. Hangzhou, a city of 8,000 years as a cradle

of Chinese civilization

and 5,000 years as a city, boasts West Lake as a world cultural her-itage. The exhibition was made possible and successful by leaders and guests and people from all walks of life. It showed the concern and support and trust of leaders and guests to-ward Hangzhou. The ex-hibition would certainly contribute to the city’s cultural development and artistic creativity. □
